What Your Body Is Telling You
A rebel soul's guide to reading the messages behind your aches, tiredness, and tension
Hey, cycle breaker.
Your body has been trying to talk to you. The tiredness that will not lift. The tension you carry in the same spot every time. The way you feel sick, anxious, or heavy right before the thing you are avoiding. You have probably been treating those as problems to silence or medicate. I want to show you how to read them instead.
Here is the belief this whole method rests on. We are energetic beings. Our thoughts and emotions do not just live in our heads, they move through the whole body. When we carry certain thoughts, emotions, stress, and old stories long enough, the body stores them. And when it needs our attention, it will sometimes get loud, showing up as tension, fatigue, or an ache, to tell us we are out of alignment. There is often no coincidence in where it shows up. Your body speaks in a language, and you can learn to understand it.
A quick, important word before we go further, because I will always be honest with you. This is a lens for self-reflection, not a diagnosis and not medical advice. Your body talking to you emotionally and your body needing a doctor are not opposites. Do both. Read the message and get the symptom checked. I will say this again at the end because it matters.
How to read the message
It is simpler than you think. Next time something in your body is speaking up, walk it through three steps.
1. Locate it. Where exactly is it? Your head feels different from your feet, your back different from your gut. Get specific.
2. Ask what has been going on. In the days or weeks before this showed up, what were you feeling? What were you carrying, avoiding, tolerating, or forcing? Do not analyze. Just let the honest answer come and trust the first thought that appears.
3. Listen for what it is asking. Once you name the emotion or pattern, the body is usually asking for a change. More rest. A boundary. To speak a truth. To put something down.
The starter map
These are the connections I have felt and sat with. They are a starting point for reflection, a way to get curious, not fixed rules. Your body may speak its own dialect.
The load you are carrying
- Lower back. Am I under pressure and carrying too much weight that is not mine to carry?
- Neck and shoulders. What, or who, is being a pain in my neck? Where am I letting something sit on me?
- Jaw, teeth grinding, headaches. What am I clenching down on and refusing to say out loud?
- Migraines. Where am I overthinking and forcing something that my body wants me to stop pushing?
- Chronic tension and knots. What have I been holding on to that I have never let myself put down?
Where you are going, and who you are bending for
- Knees. Am I stuck being subservient, people pleasing, bending to others instead of standing in my own direction?
- Hips. What am I afraid to move toward? Where am I stuck between the life I have and the one I want?
- Feet and ankles. Am I standing on ground that is actually mine, or ground I was told to stand on?
- Joint pain and stiffness. Where have I stopped being flexible with myself? What rule am I being rigid about?
Fear, control, and what you cannot digest
- Stomach and digestion. What am I afraid of right now that I have not let myself feel?
- Gut issues and IBS flares. What situation or relationship in my life am I unable to digest?
- Gallbladder and liver. What am I bitter or resentful about that I have never spoken?
- Nausea before something. What is my body trying to tell me about this that my mind is overriding?
- Cravings that spike at night. What feeling am I about to pacify instead of feel?
Your voice, your heart, your boundaries
- Throat, thyroid, losing your voice. What truth am I swallowing? Where am I speaking for everyone but me?
- Chest tightness and racing heart. What am I bracing for? Where have I stopped feeling safe?
- Blood pressure running high. Where am I living in a constant state of urgency that I have normalized?
- Skin, eczema, acne, flare-ups. What is bothering me at the boundary between me and everyone else?
- Recurring colds and getting run down. Where have I ignored every quiet request my body made until it had to get loud?
Rest, hormones, and running on empty
- Chronic tiredness. Where am I living in survival mode and running from myself instead of tuning inward?
- Insomnia and waking at 3 a.m. What am I refusing to face in the daylight?
- Hormonal chaos and cycle issues. Where am I out of rhythm with myself and living on someone else's schedule?
- Weight that will not move. What is this weight protecting me from? What would I have to face if it were gone?
- Inflammation everywhere. What have I been at war with, inside myself, for years?
Notice the pattern. Almost every one of these points back to the same core work: stop abandoning yourself, set the boundary, speak the truth, and honor what your body is asking for. That is not a coincidence either.
And read this next line twice. Every single thing on that list is also a real medical condition that deserves real medical care. Reading the message is not a replacement for going to the doctor. It is what you do alongside it.
Your daily body check-in
Once a day, pause and scan. Head to toe, slowly. Where is there tension, ache, or heaviness? Pick the loudest spot and run the three steps: locate it, ask what has been going on, listen for what it is asking. Then honor one small thing it asked for that day. A boundary. A rest. A conversation. A no.
This is how you build an embodied relationship with yourself, where you can intuitively feel, "oh, my back hurts because I am carrying too much right now," and actually do something about the cause instead of just numbing the symptom. Your body holds enormous wisdom. When you start trusting it, it becomes a compass that points you straight at the emotional changes you need to make.
This is just the beginning
Reading your body is one of five methods inside Fully Alive. You can start your daily check-in today. But this work goes so much deeper with people who are learning to listen to themselves at the same time, sharing what they are discovering, and reflecting your own wisdom back to you when you cannot see it yet.
If you are ready to stop silencing your body and start listening to it, tap the button below and put your name on the Fully Alive list. I will send you the next step.
Get in. We are going on a journey.

Important: This guide is my personal lens for self-reflection and emotional awareness. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis, or a substitute for professional care. The mind and body are connected, and that is worth exploring, and any physical symptom can also have a physical cause that deserves attention. Please see a qualified doctor for any symptom, illness, or health concern, and never delay or stop medical treatment based on this guide. Reflect on the message and take care of the body.
